Nupur Maskara's Biography

Nupur Maskara Writer

Nupur Maskara is an award winning poet, author of two poetry books and a novel. She wrote her first poem at the age of ten. It was published in Target, and Nupur received a cheque for Rs. 10. Her father is a poet who writes in Urdu and Hindi, and Nupur grew up listening to him read his poems.

 

Nupur majored in English literature from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi. She went on to do an MBA in Marketing from the Faculty of Management Studies, Delhi University. After stints in FMCG - Unilever and advertising - Dentsu, Nupur became a content writer.

 

Nupur also does branding and social media marketing. She has written two books of poetry – Insta Gita: With Arjuna’s Perspective in Poetry and Insta Women: Dramatic Monologues by Drama Queens. Nupur has a course on Skillshare – Pack More Punch in Your Poetry.

 

Nupur received the Orange Flower Award for Poetry in 2020. Her poems have been published on Wry Times, Last Leaves, The Gateway Review, Zoetic Press, Rigorous, The Loch Raven Review, Mantis (forthcoming).

 

Nupur writes about nature, women, and motherhood a great deal. She is working on a novel and a chapbook. Her friends have branded her bloopers as Nupurisms. Nupur lives in Pune, India and has four year old twins, who also love making up stories.
